Project Description

Hedsor House

Hedsor House

Hedsor House was originally designed by Sir William Chambers, the architect of Somerset House, with the help of King George III and Queen Charlotte. They were captivated by Hedsor’s picturesque position high above the River Thames and its close proximity to London.

The house was once famously the home of Dowager Princess of Wales, mother of George III and the founder of Kew Gardens. Fascinating diary entries describe how the house regularly welcomed Kings, Queens and royal children from nearby Windsor Castle.

Following its fascinating 800 year history and decades as the seat of the Shephard Family, the beautiful Georgian house underwent an extensive renovation and restoration project in the mid to late 2000s, re-opening in 2007.

In 2008, the house was reborn as a private events venue. From reinstating the magnificent 150 year old panelling in the Ballroom, to the installation of WiFi and luxurious new decoration and furnishings, the house is maintained in immaculate condition as a venue for weddingsevents and celebrations.

An Exclusive Use Wedding and Events Venue

Hedsor House is an exclusive use venue, and when your wedding, event or celebration has come to an end, there are 13 superb bedrooms on the first and second floors each a perfect blend of period style and modern facilities. The rooms, featuring luxurious interiors, panoramic views of Hedsor Park and comfortable furnishings, have all been carefully designed to reflect their rich history whilst offering the very latest in modern comfort.

A Popular Film Location

Hedsor House was the stunning location for Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut QUARTET, released on 1 January 2013. Chosen by the film’s producers for its sheer character and charm, Hedsor was transformed into Quartet’s fictional Beecham House — a stately retirement home for opera singers. Quartet is one of the few films shot almost entirely at a single location.
